I have been watching birds and other wildlife for sometime and in the summer of 2005 decide to start taking photographs of  the birds I was seeing . To begin with  I started using my Opticron ES80 GA ED scope with a simple digital camera hand held. The results were not too inspiring at first as I knew very little about the art of digiscoping and even less about digital cameras. I did manage to get a few records of the birds I was seeing in the field , provided they stayed still long enough.. I guess this is the art of digiscoping , you need to be able to get your kit set up quickly and just hope the bird or animal stays in one spot long enough for you to get a few shots off.. Like most people , I thought I would be able to get great pictures miles  away from my subject, by simply puting the camera up to the scope. Not releasing about, noise, depth of field and camera shake I soon found out the hard way.

One of my first Digiscoped pictures

This is one of my first digiscoping pictures .It's a Little Owl  and was taken from about 350 yds with my Opticron ES80. You can see how even with a scope you still need to get close for a really good picture, this was something that suprised me to begin with.

Another of my early pictures. I practised on easy garden birds quite a bit.

I also use a digital SLR as I found just using a digiscoping kit limits my pictures , for instance you can not take flight shots or small birds that move around quickly like Goldcrests. So I now find myself carry around quite a lot of kit. Binoculars, scope, DSLR, digital compact, tripod  plus food and drink.

Some of my work has been sold to companies and individuals . You can purchase pictures , calendars etc from the shop page

My Lanner Falcon picture was used recently by Star Falcon International Ltd as part of their new logo.
